This whistle is used to bring the fox in in those last fatal yards. Only use the mouse whistle after a long pause. The fox can hear this call on clear still days up to 750 yards away. Because the Hare/Rabbit Call is an imitation of a hurt animal and therefore could be caused by a man or a dog, it is logical the fox would be more likely to come closer for the harmless sound of a mouse. Therefore it is advised to use this at the end of the hunt. A good time to use the mouse call is in autumn or winter when the hard frost forces the mice to stay below the ground.
